Save the Baram Forest from logging!

The Malaysian timber company Borneoland Timber Resources (‘Borneoland’) is currently clearing 170,000 hectares of rainforest. The company extracts over 4,000 tonnes of tropical timber from the upper Baram River every month without regard for the social and ecological impact.

The forest belongs to the Penan people. However, the timber licence in question was granted without consulting the affected communities, contrary to legal requirements.

We call on Malaysia's Prime Minister and the Chief Minister of Sarawak to:

  1. Stop the logging activities in the Baram rainforest with immediate effect.
  2. Revoke timber licence T/9246 granted to Borneoland.
  3. Expropriate the logging road in the upper Baram River from the timber companies and declare it a public road.

Donate to our campaign for the protection of the last primary rainforests on our planet.
